If you are running a startup and need to quickly allow customers to start paying you online, this might be of interest.
Widely used payment gateway eWAY can now set you up to receive online payments within a few days rather than the several weeks or months often needed by the major banks.
eWAY founder and CEO Matt Bullock argues this delay has been one of the major obstacles to ecommerce, pointing to ABS figures showing only 28.8% of Australian businesses accept orders online.
“Business owners tend to be time-poor. eWAY Merchant Services takes the pain and time out of having to talk to the bank,” Bullock said.
“We’re not dragging them kicking and screaming, it’s a very smooth, one-stop process. This is perfect for startups, making it faster and easier to get setup to process transactions online.”
eWAY Merchant Services charges a $50 setup fee plus $29 per month. Transaction fees are 2.2% plus 30c (higher rates may apply when customers use commercial, international or certain other credit cards).
The company plans to reduce the setup time to a matter of hours during 2014, and eventually to offer almost instant provisional approval while the details of an application are being processed.
