Bigcommerce launches single click app store

Use Bigcommerce? If you haven't explored their "apps" this might be of interest.

Bigcommerce is well-known as an easy way to setup an ecommerce site, so any new features are bound to interest a lot of people.

We notice the site has now added a Bigcommerce Single Click App Store which lets you add capabilities such as point of sale software to your store with one click.

The normal approach has been to sign up with the provider of an add-on application and then manually configure the integration between the add-on and the ecommerce platform.

Instead, the Bigcommerce Single Click App Store provides a catalogue of apps that can be purchased with a single click (just like buying an app for your smartphone from Apple's App Store or Google Play), and then the integration is handled automatically.

The doorway to the store is the Bigcommerce control panel, and that's also where you access any installed apps.

The initial selection of apps includes search engine optimisation, search engine marketing, social media and email marketing, as well as apps for integrating Bigcommerce stores with other systems such as point of sale, inventory management, merchandising, fulfilment, and analytics.

Examples include the cloud-based POS system ZingCheckout and social marketing tool Justuno.

As with other app stores, Bigcommerce makes provision for free and paid apps.

The Single Click App Store is available immediately to all Bigcommerce merchants.

Bigcommerce has 3,000 development partners to build Single Click Apps, so the range is likely to increase.

If you're in the business of developing software, you may be interested to know that Bigcommerce offers a 70% revenue share and provides SDKs for Ruby, PHP, C# and Node.js.
