‘Uber for photographers’ has gained backing from a leading startup accelerator to expand in the US.
Snappr sends “the very best photographers” to any kind of shoot for as little as $59. That price is for a half-hour shoot, and includes the first three photos you select from those taken. Or for $99 you get all the photos. A full-day (seven hour) shoot costs $449 with 40 photos or $749 with all photos.
Snappr operates in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra, Newcastle, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Geelong, and now San Francisco and San Jose. Y Combinator's backing will help the company expand across the US.
“For 2017, YC has made it a bigger priority than ever before to find the best global startups from outside the US”, said Y Combinator president Sam Altman. “Snappr was one of those. We're very excited about their expansion.”
Y Combinator was behind all of the ten accelerator-backed startups that have gone on to be billion-dollar companies, including Airbnb, Dropbox and Stripe. Australian Y Combinator alumni include 99dresses, Airpair, FlightFox, and Flirtey.
