If you have a Google+ 'local business' page, or even if you don't, this might be of interest.
We didn't know you could connect a Google+ 'local business' page and your Google Maps listing until we spotted this article on the topic at Search Engine Roundtable.
You'll find detailed instructions in the Google Places for Business help, but one thing that's apparently missing is that you need to be logged in as the owner of the page, not just as a manager.
This capability seems to be primarily intended for businesses that operate from a single location, but there are plenty of those in Australia. If you have more than one location and want to take advantage of the feature, it seems you'll need separate Google+ pages for each location.
Why bother? Information from your Google Maps entry such as reviews will automatically appear on the linked Google+ page, and it saves you having to manage separately your Google+ page and Google Maps listing.
