Another clever trick for your shop's POS system

Rewardle and Kounta combine loyalty and POS in the cloud

POS systems are almost ubiquitous in the hospitality industry, and loyalty schemes are increasingly common. Wouldn't it be great if your cafe or other business could use these tools to gain the type of insights that the big retailers get from flybuys and similar schemes?
That's what a couple of Australian companies are aiming to do.
Kounta offers a POS (point of sale) system for shops and hospitality businesses. It runs in the cloud, so you can use it from a PC (Mac or Windows), or from an iPad or Android tablet.
Rewardle is a rewards scheme that aims to replace those multiple cards in customers' wallets with a smartphone app (iPhone or Android, and there's a web app for other devices) that allows them to earn and redeem points at participating businesses. The app displays a QR code on the phone, which is scanned at the counter. Yes, customers can carry a Rewardle card if they prefer, but there's a growing assumption that people prefer to use their phones rather than plastic cards. The company has indicated that it plans to take advantage of wearable devices.
Rewardle also provides prepayment, mobile ordering and social media integrations, and claims to have nearly 4,000 participating merchants and one million members.
From a merchant's point of view, it would be convenient if Kounta's and Rewardle's functions could be combined to tell them more about the way customers interact with their business.
Kounta and Rewardle have already achieved a basic level of integration so that 'basket of goods' information flows from Kounta to Rewardle, and the companies plan to collaborate more closely.
This is another example of the way that the providers of cloud services can collaborate to provide 'behind the scenes' integration that users can take advantage of with little or no effort.
The Kounta relationship appears to be Rewardle's first integration project, but Kounta already integrates with MYOB, QuickBooks, Saasu and Xero cloud accounting, as well as Beat the Q (online ordering), Collect Rewards (another loyalty program), Cooking The Books (kitchen management), Deputy (workforce management), PayPal (payments), Swarm  (analytics), and Tyro (card payments).
