More than 1,000 health practitioners are registered with a web site that lets patients search for the nearest doctor and book over the Internet.
You’re sick, visiting a friend, or on holidays, or just away from home and not near your regular GP. What do you do?
Web site 1stAvailable is hoping the sick and injured will sign up to its web site, where they can search for the nearest available doctor and make a booking.
The company has announced more than 1,000 health practitioners have registered to receive bookings through the site – this includes doctors, dentist and chiropractors.
The company claims the service can reduce pressure on front office staff and save on the time it takes to schedule bookings with patients (you can’t make bookings over the phone with 1stAvailable).
The site is not the only one listing doctors online – Docfinder.com.au claims to have 40,000 medical professionals on its site.
The 1stAvailable site says the web site went live in April this year, and the company has been active for 18 months.
The company’s guide for health practitioners claims the site’s display ranking “ensures you are listed early for customer selection and not buried on subsequent pages like other appointment systems.” The document also states 1stAvailable has a “search radius” of 250km in rural areas and 25km for city areas.
