Take the pain out data entry, bill payments, tax lodgements, debt control and other tasks with these apps that integrate with accounting systems.

One of several good things about most cloud accounting systems is the way they can work with add-ons that integrate with other online software to deliver powerful additional functionality.

We asked the six providers of our comparison of cloud accounting systems to identify the add-ons that they consider the more popular, interesting or beneficial for small businesses.

Between them, the accounting providers’ selected add-ons streamline and even automate a wide range of tasks, including expenses, job management, invoicing, data entry, bill payments, staff management, payroll, payment processing, ecommerce, retail, inventory management, tax lodgements, debt control and practice management. And many of the add-ons integrate with a number of accounting systems.

For QuickBooks Plus, Intuit identified three recently released add-ons that the company feels are of particular interest: Bpay BatchMaker, BoxStorm and Go Proposal. Its most widely used add-ons include KeyPay, PayPal, Square and Receipt Bank, GovReports, Shopify, ServiceM8, ServiceM8 and TSheets. For many more, see the full library of QuickBooks add-ons.

MYOB chose not to single out any recently released add-ons, but the three most popular add-ons for MYOB Essentials are Receipt Bank, ServiceM8 and EzyCollect. See the full catalogue of MYOB Essentials add-ons for many others.

Reckon included AutoEntry, GovReports and Link4 in its shortlist of recently released add-ons for Reckon One. Its three most widely used add-ons are AutoEntry, Tidystock, and GovReports. For more, see the Reckon One’s catalogue of add-ons.

Saasu says its most used add-ons are Stripe, eWay and PayPal. Perhaps significantly, these are all payment services, and each of the integrations was built by Saasu. Others are available from Saasu’s catalogue of add-ons.

Xero’s top three add-ons are Receipt Bank, Vend and Deputy, and the company singled out one key fairly new addition: the payment processing app, Deft. There are, of course, many other add-ons available from the Xero marketplace.

Sage chose not to identify the most popular add-ons for Sage One, which is being rebranded as Sage Business Cloud Accounting. But it does offer a number of add-on apps.
