Here's a good example of what switching from pen and paper to "the cloud" actually means in practice. What you're looking at is the web site of GeoOP, a system for coordinating a team of workers while they're out on jobs. Let's say you have 10 tradespeople out on the road - you need to coordinate their movements each day. Instead of creating job sheets, which might be out of date before too long, GeoOp uses a central job sheet which all your workers access using a phone app. Anytime something changes, they each get the update on their phone. Not only that, you can see where your workers are (thanks to GPS) and when a job comes in, assign the closest person.
