Chef Christopher Thé ran into this problem. He made a strawberry and melon cake for a friend's wedding, pictures circulated rapidly on social media, and demand skyrocketed.
"I always thought that if you were passionate and had a great product that was all you needed to succeed in business, but that's just not true. There's a whole lot of skills you need to run a sustainable business that continues to grow," he observed.
The made that transition, and now sells as many as 4,000 slices of strawberry and melon cake from his three Black Star Pastry in the Sydney CBD, Newtown and Rosebery.
