Office 2013 on sale: here's how much you'll pay

Microsoft has started taking orders for four different versions of Office 2013 on the Australian web store. Here's how much it costs.

Prices start at $119 for a one-year, five-computer subscription to Office 365 Home Premium.

But the Office 2013 web store shows this item as "out of stock" and according to a Microsoft presales representative that's "because the software has not been fully released yet."

What about other versions of the new Office? As you may remember from our earlier article, you can either buy or rent Office 2013.

From what we can tell, there’s only one “subscription”/ rental price out there – that's the Office 365 Home Premium price we quoted above. At the time of writing this we couldn't see any other subscription prices visible on the site yet.

What we can see is how much you'll pay for one-off purchases of other versions of Office 2013.

The Home and Student edition of Office 2013 is listed at $169 per computer, but that only includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote. That doesn't include Outlook - presumably Microsoft assumes if you're buying this version, you normally use a webmail service such as Outlook.com or Gmail.

Then there is Office Home and Business 2013. Priced at $299 this does include Outlook and also removes the 'no commercial use' restriction.

For those that prefer 'one with the lot' there's Office Professional 2013 for $599: it includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Publisher and Access, all licensed for a single computer.

Note, all the prices above are for a single computer, except for the subsciption version, which is for 5 computers. That's one advantage in signing up for an Office subscription, though we're yet to see how much that will cost for the business versions.

Another tips: before buying, remember that Office 2013 won't run on Vista or XP.
