Finding free Wi-Fi hotspots in Australia still isn't as easy as it is in some parts of the world, but things are gradually improving.
We also hear that another recent addition to the options for Sydneysiders and visitors to the harbour city is the free service offered by SkyHub at four Ipoh-owned shopping centres in the CBD, namely the
QVB,
The Galeries,
Chifley Plaza and
The Strand Arcade.
We haven't had the opportunity to use the Wi-Fi at these locations yet, but if you have luck getting online let us know.
Operated by SkyHub, the service is open to the public - no purchase necessary - but users do need to sit through a fairly brief ad from the service's sponsor before they get a connection. This relieves the centre's management and tenants of the cost, and presumably gives a reasonable income stream to the operator allowing the provision of decent coverage and speed.
