With the ACT, NSW, SA, WA and Queensland getting ready up for a long weekend, we wonder whether it’s getting any easier to find free Wi-Fi in hotels in Australia.
We got thinking about this after the recent announcement that Accor plans to offer free Wi-Fi in its hotels.
According to an article on the Australian Business Traveller web site, the free access will be “basic”, enough for “simple emails”. The idea is that customers can pay if they want faster Internet, according to the article. We recommend you read the article in full here.
Free Wi-Fi seems to be a long-running gripe with business travellers in Australia, based on surveys we’ve read and comments on various forums.
For a long weekend holiday, we’d prefer no access if at all possible, but for some people they can’t afford to be offline for more than a couple of days.
