RIM names BlackBerry application store

Research In Motion (RIM) has officially named its forthcoming application store for the BlackBerry, which will be called BlackBerry App World..

First announced in October 2008, RIM's BlackBerry App World is due to go live sometime this month, but the company has still to confirm an exact date.

BlackBerry App World will allow registered developers to submit applications to RIM, which will evaluate whether they are worthy of inclusion in the online store. The company began inviting submissions in January of this year.

End users will be able to purchase applications for download using a PayPal account once the service goes live.

The move follows other application store launches such as Apple's iPhone App Store and Google's Android Market.
