Audiomate is a new brand from PC Range, and its AM8212 is a great debut product. It is a USB wireless audio adapter, with simple remote controls and an inbuilt mic designed to work with Skype, MSN and similar devices.

Setup is a breeze, plug the USB adapter into a PC, and it detects as a generic audio device. You can then plug headphones into the receiver, select them in Windows and then move up to 30m from your PC while still receiving sound – this worked flawlessly even in an office full of wireless devices.

The inbuilt mic was a bit trickier until we reverse engineered the instruction manual and realised that double clicking the power button muted and unmuted it. The sheer simplicity of the AM8212 makes this a great wireless audio solution.
