A handy tip if you use Reckon CashBook Online

Typing transactions into your accounts is time consuming, boring and prone to error. Fortunately, many accounting software programs automate the process by pulling data directly from your bank.

If you're a Quicken user, you might be interested to know that this feature is now part of CashBook Online. Called Reckon BankData, the feature imports and automatically categorises transactions. The Reckon press release states you can import data from the Commonwealth Bank, Westpac, NAB, ANZ, St George, Bank of Melbourne and BankSA in Australia, ANZ, Westpac, ASB Bank, Kiwibank and National Bank in New Zealand, as well as overseas banks.

Reckon's press release states: "there are plans to offer the banking solution with Quicken Personal Plus and Quicken Home & Business programs, as well as QuickBooks desktop products and QuickBooks Hosted in 2013."

If you're wondering whether this will work with your bank, Reckon has added a Bank Compatibility Checker to their website for accounting professionals and businesses seeking information about their bank availability.
