As far as small business is concerned, reaction to the 2012 Federal Budget has been mixed.
If you run a business and are concerned about what the Budget will mean, tune in to this webcast this evening at 5:30pm (5pm in SA and NT, 3:30pm in WA), as the Minister for Small Business Brendan O’Connor will lay out policy measures for small and “micro” businesses.
There is an hour scheduled for the presentation and publicity material promises the Minister will “unpack the measures in the budget that are for the MSB sector and discuss practical ways that MSBs [micro & small businesses] can benefit from the budget.”
That hour also includes a breakdown of economic events “likely to affect your business”, by Associate Professor in Economics at UTS, Gordon Menzies. Future tax reform and how it will affect Australians is on the agenda.

Innovation - September 2012. Speakers will come from the Government, Australian Centre for Innovation and Faculty of Business, UTS.
Taking the “fear factor out” of these topics is one aim of these events, the organisers tell us. One advantage: you don’t need the time and money to attend in person.
